For Henkel AG & Co. KGaA, gekartel has implemented a digital product advice system for its range of adhesives, which are sold in over 900 branches of major DIY chains across Germany. The application includes information on Henkel and Pattex brand adhesives as well as product recommendations based on the materials to be glued together. The built-in scanner can be used to scan the barcodes of the products for more detailed information.

Content updates are played centrally from gekartel to the devices. Monthly statistical data provides information about the frequency and type of use and thus helps to continuously improve the application and the product range.

The gekartel fault hotline also offers store staff and field staff the opportunity to report malfunctions directly.

Initial situation

Customers’ uncertainty as to which adhesive was the right one for their project often led to recurring queries to the sales staff. In most cases, the staff on site was not familiar with the products in depth. Here, a digital offer was intended to relieve and support the sales staff and at the same time increase sales for Henkel through a targeted product recommendation.

Application description

Henkel’s digital adhesive advisor supports customers in their extensive selection of adhesives and provides a product recommendation tailored to the customer’s requirements.
The intuitive operation of the application enables the user to find the desired adhesive quickly and easily either by selecting the type of adhesive or by selecting the materials. Further information on the selected adhesive supplements the product recommendation.

With the help of the scanner function, any adhesives can be scanned to obtain helpful information. The integrated digital do-it-yourself encyclopedia offers extensive knowledge on the subject of DIY and rounds off the advisory app’s range of services.
